I create pieces that focus on the simplicity in the world around me while also celebrating the vibrancy and harmony of colors that lure the viewer to make their own interpretations of a particular story. My work tends to enjoy a very musical feel in the fluidity of the lines and the vibration of the colors I use whether they are extremely bright or if I lean to the darker more ominous colors. All of my work is done to music when I create, so it’s an inspiration on my technique, style and overall mood of my pieces.
As my work progresses, I’ve begun to work on larger pieces that are more abstract because it leaves a truly open door to confront the viewer and make them an active participant in the interpretation. I have also experimented with much smaller pieces to test my style and technique. I’ve found that I love working with geometric shapes in some of my work because it tells its own unique story. While geometry is complex, I find that it lends itself well to my simplistic focus and style. I prefer to make art that makes the viewer a part of the experience and force them to make their own assumptions, hoping that it will open their mind and expand their view on the world around them.

More Circles
Drinking and painting.
It wasn't on purpose, but I had a bad few days and came home to drown my sorrow in a beer or 6. I had a lot more than that, but I started painting after 6 beers. This was the result.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality. You're lucky they were that steady. Its only on canvas paper for now, but I bought some canvases yesterday and I think I'm going to put it on an 18x24.
I doubt i'll do that again, but it turned out really cool

Homework Assignment 4
So my homework this week was to do LAST week's assignment as I originally intended. As a painting. My directions were to just play around with the compositional elements and make it larger!
It's on a 20x30 canvas. And here's the first 4 hours worth of work.
(last week's assignment)
I added the compositional element on the left to balance it out better and give it some more movement. Hopefully it helps.
I am going to fill in the other side of the purple, there will be a white stripe down the center (curved). Then the other white space at the top right and around the red splotch will be stippling. So stay tuned for the finished product.

Homework 3 - Texture/Mark Making
Ok this week's homework was to use different types of mark making techniques and textures. We had a lot more freedom. We were only restricted by a few things. mostly paper size. This is 11x17 (i think..if not 11X14 at least). So I chose to go very abstract.
So I used 5 different techniques and two media.
mark making techniques: Hatching, Contour, Cross-Hatching, Stippling and scumbling (yes this an acceptable term!)
Media used: Prismacolour pencils and art markers (blue, purple and red'ish)
With no further adieu:

There is no name for this piece yet. I just find it tremendously organic and I like all the textures I made with the mark-making techniques. This was going to be a painting but it took me OVER the time to finish this piece and now that it's done, there are only a few things I want to do. just to clean up.
So I used hatching on the right side. Mostly contour in the center. Top right is stippling along with around the red bit. then cross hatching on the right middle. then the bottom right I used scumbling. Such a fun piece and I'm not trying to tell a longer story..It's all about the colours and the texture of the piece.
Have fun trying to figure it out! I love abstract art!!!
