Welcome to Becka's Art

Greetings! Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog. I wanted to create something that would make my art more accessible. I didn't realize I had a love of drawing until the last few years. I've always been a much more creative person with my music, writing of stories and even sometimes photography (but it's been a long time). I had been wrangling with myself over taking an Art class for years. I kept putting it off because I thought people would think I was being frivolous or laugh at my attempts of drawing. My doodles really never were anything great! :) And I spent most of my life focusing on music because it was my first real love in life. And in High School and College, you rarely had time to do music AND art. So it was a choice, and I chose music. Now I'm taking time to do the other!

With some encouragement from my best friend, who will be thanked at GREAT length for the rest of my life, I finally just signed up to take a drawing class through Northern Virginia Community College. I found out that doing through the Comm College was cheaper than doing it through the Parks and Recreation program thanks to the amount that some of the Artists were charging for their time. (don't get me wrong, I think that's GREAT and I know they have to make money too), but it was also for a much shorter time period. So I was also afraid that I wouldn't improve quickly enough. Community college was the way to go, and I had heard some great things about the people who taught at the Loudoun campus out in Sterling. I didn't have anything to lose by doing this.

For the longest time I thought I was just kind of drifting through life and never really living it. I was always doing what I HAD to do, to get by. Or doing so many things for everyone else, I just didn't have anything left over that was JUST mine. Now I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing! I feel a bit more alive again. There's a bigger bounce in my step and a sizable smile on my face more often. I have things to look forward to. My class is every Saturday from 9am to 2pm. I started over a week ago. I'm meeting more people and enjoy being around people with the same interests and different skill levels that I can learn from.

So this is the blog of my work and my hobby. Please feel free to leave comments, questions or anything. I'll never grow as an artist without it. And I want this, I really want this to be a huge part of my life. I will never be famous, but I think EVERYONE is an artist and EVERYTHING is art in some form because you do it for yourself and not for any other reason other than love. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy watching me grow.
